Today is the day! We’re releasing the much anticipated Wise Monkeys aged in chardonnay barrels. It’s not like the monkey needed more abv, but it made it devilishly good. Some would say it is even better.
Last time I shared that Nuclear Winter Cab is my favorite beer. Well, Wise Monkeys is the taproom team’s favorite. So much so that we had “Drink No Evil” hoodies made to express their love.
In case the reference is a bit obscure, the can depicts Iwazaru, the wise monkey that embodies speak no evil. We took some creative license and interpreted it as drink no evil.
The barrel added a lovely oak flavor and increased an already full-body mouthfeel. It also dampened the bubblegum Belgian characteristic and sweetness, which results in a perfectly complex beer that doesn’t swing too far in any direction. You could drink it all day. You probably shouldn’t, but you could.
