I’m not sure how seltzers got started with flavors like lemon-lime and strawberry kiwi. Maybe it is due to La Croix, but it takes me back to high school with Zima and Jolly Ranchers when it is in the form of a malt beverage. (And I believe that comment ages me.)
To no surprise to anyone, we have a different spin on the category. Partly because we can be a bit contrarian, but also because we don’t care for the fruit flavors. We’ll leave the fruit salad and smoothie seltzers to someone else.
Heavy Water, our hard seltzer, is inspired by our favorite cocktails. And like cocktails, bartenders will mix the beverage at the time of ordering. Our unflavored seltzer is the base rather than champagne, gin, or vodka. The bartenders then add the simple syrup with predetermined herbs, citrus, and other ingredients. Think of it as a craft seltzer.
We’re launching Seltzer Sundays to kick it off, and every Sunday will be a new flavor. First is a champagne cocktail inspired seltzer. Who doesn’t love champagne on a patio on a Sunday?! Just like the cocktail, we make it with Angostura bitters and sugar (+ some other proprietary ingredients).
There’s only one week to get each flavor!
