We have a new writer on the team, Ms. Cassie! She sent me a job inquiry email with a subject line that said “Let’s be friends” and then professed her love for Hoppenheimer. I immediately liked her, of course. I mean, that is a hell of a witty way to get my attention. Because I’m doing a horrid job of keeping up with the blog, she is going to help us out. Who knew building a taproom and brewery would be so time-consuming?! Now before I continue to ramble too much, let’s allow Cassie to share her thoughts about Hopp!
It’s Sunday morning, game day for the Chicago Bears (sorry Cowboys fans, I’m new here). I’m sipping on a Hoppenheimer. That’s right, I’m having an IPA for breakfast. You can’t really blame me though, the Hoppenheimer can told me to! It says it pairs well with bacon—and fried chicken and carrot cake—so that essentially means it’s a beverage you can drink all day, right? And you can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning!
After recently moving to Dallas, it’s been a struggle to find an IPA that I truly enjoyed and saw a lasting relationship with. There definitely is no shortage of craft beer here, but I couldn’t find ‘The One.’ Then, one brutally hot summer day, as I was letting my husky cool off in the beer aisle at Tom Thumb, a can caught my eye. Straightforward design, but eye-catching nonetheless. That was the day that my love affair with Manhattan Project’s Hoppenheimer was born.
Hoppenheimer is the quintessential West Coast IPA: light and crisp with the perfect balance of hop and citrus. It has become my go-to beverage of the summer (sorry White Claw) and I have a sneaking suspicion will continue into the coming seasons.
In the ever-changing world of craft beer, there have been a handful of trends in the past year alone. We’ve all been witness to the phases: the bruts, the sessions, the hazys, and the sours. They have been successful, almost taking on a cult following. However, sometimes the craze and fad of a beer can overtake the quality. There is something to be said about the OG of the craft beer industry—the West Coast IPA. It is time for the resurgence of our reliable and hop-forward friend, outliving the fads, proving that quality can be the best kind of advertising.
**And a big shout out to Foxtrot Market, who always has Manhattan Project in stock and delivers right to my front door making my affair so easy to maintain.

I agree with you 100%. While I enjoy the various takes on an IPA, the punch in the taste buds of a good West Coast IPA is my favorite!

Yes! Sometimes you need to be reminded that you’re drinking hops and not juice!

A big turning point for me was when I smelled and tasted hops in person. Once you have that sensory experience, you can better appreciate what you are tasting in an IPA. BTW — I am a huge fan of Manhattan Project. Every beer you all brew is fantastic. Keep up the good work!
